My feelings of being overwhelmed continued. But at the August 30th Ajijic Book Club meeting, held in person at The Peacock Garden, I announced that I would be stepping away from the club after the November meeting. One of the original club members immediately stepped up, volunteering to provide leadership to keep the club going. Two other members volunteered to help her. There was lots of energy in the group of ten members present. Reflecting on this as I walked home, I felt satisfied and relieved.

July and August seemed to be the wettest of the ten rainy seasons we have lived in Lakeside. It was often too wet to work in my garden and I lost control of maintaining it as I would like to. Pat had warned me that the garden was too big and she has been proven correct. Also, in some areas the weed barrier did not do its job resulting in work I had hoped to avoid. Plants grow very quickly here and there is always weeding and trimming required. But I continue to enjoy my time in my garden, doing as best I can.

I wrote my book report on THE MAN LOVES THE WINE SHE SERVES THROUGH HER BODY An Erotic Encounter with the Divine Feminine, written by my good friend, David Byren. I offered the book as a gift to one of my new Emergent Commons friends. She accepted and I sent it to her via FedEx. I can think of no better way to honor the work of my friend.

I celebrated my birthday on August 7th and captured the day in a separate article.

Efforts to solve our vehicle problem continued to be unsuccessful. And there has been a cost. We spent $4000 pesos getting the required documents notarized for a five day permit to drive application. I worked with some expats on a possibility to take advantage of an amnesty program in some Mexican states (not Jalisco). But the solution seemed to keep changing and I was uncomfortable so I discontinued this initiative.

I have now almost completed another little project. I have been following along with Peter Limberg and his Dispatches to Thumos. Peter continues to inspire me and I will copy him with my own journaling in September.

My efforts to work with others Mapping Metamodernism went nowhere. I decided to create my own personal map on a Google spreadsheet. The SPACE and the MOVEMENT is now a labor of love.

I spent a lot of time with my favorite online community and I captured some of my activity in a separate article, 2022 - July and August at EC.
